How Laura Roeder Launched Her New Business

Whether you are just starting your business or changing an existing one – there comes a time when you need to launch it – share it with the world – open the doors and let people in…otherwise, it's not a business right?

This past week was a busy one at LKR – Laura Roeder's social media marketing training company. ย We were launching a completely new business model and offering.

I decided to sit down with Laura herself and dig into the why, the how, and the what's in store for the future of LKR for everyone who's been emailing me asking me! ย What better way than to hear from Laura directly right?

Now – Laura and I speak often so this isn't your normal interview – it's really a behind the scenes conversation very similar to the one we had when initially deciding to go in this new business direction.

Watch it now to go inside LKR and find out the real story and also some launching advice for first-time launchers:

  • Can you launch with a small list?
  • What's the best blueprint to follow when launching?
  • How Laura sets her launch goals (and how you can do it too!).

Go check out LKR Social Media Marketer right now to find out more how you can be part of the new LKR.

Leave a comment below and make sure to share this puppy with your friends!

If you liked this, you are going to love what's in store for the next round of Fearless Launching! Get your tail on the interest list TODAY!

I love this interview. Thanks for sharing the real story behind launching, productising, outcomes, rule breaking and all that other good stuff…

I particularly love the cable customer analogy – a fab reminder of how NOT to treat customers.

Congratulations to you both and the whole LKR team on the relaunch and really, really fun party. Here’s to a future of easy processes, simplified systems and taking off when the mood hits!

lol – I know what you mean about those multiple wordpress installs! I don’t have anywhere near 80 but even at 5 it’s at the stage where I’m looking at other solutions.

Lovely to see you both together on this interview ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Cathy – I was grappling with the same issue. WPMS is just now for me. I like my databases separate. Take a look at ManageWP (it’s hiding but they have a free version for up to 5 installs).

Its great to see that you guys have the same issues as the rest of us and that you haven’t thought of everything. I was going to mention what Cathy said above, and I love that you have 80 WordPress installs, makes me feel good. Thanks for letting us in on some trade secrets!

This is great, Anne and Laura! Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes scoop. Really takes the confusion and stress out of business building. Like Laura says, you don’t know what you’re doing ’til you do it!

Awesome interview, thanks for sharing this!

One of the biggest takeaways for me is that it’s ok to break the typical launch/promo rules when putting something out there. Which of course we all know, but it’s good hearing someone as successful as Laura is in the online space confirm it. : )

I really enjoyed the Vokle launch party by the way, and am love, love, loving Social Media Marketer so far!

Just sent you a message Sukie! I’m a big fan of simplifying every piece of your business (well, if it can be!). Sometimes that complexity keeps us from launching, moving our businesses forward and enjoying the process!

    Kimberly,
    Thanks for stopping by!
I think it’s really important to hear the “break the rules” call to action from people who are successful – even hearing it myself is inspiring because it gives you permission to build the business you want (not just one based on something someone else is doing!).

There were so many good takeaways here, specially dispelling the numbers game myth and how many always thinks it’s about a huge list. Great interview Anne.

Great interview! Good info on the launch rather than just posting something to sell. I also learned about WordPress Multi-Site…heard of it but didn’t know what it was. Totally need it. Thanks again!!

Terra! So glad you liked it. Make sure to do all the research about multisite to make sure it’s the right solution for you! I see a few people above who found out that it wasn’t for them! Any advice you need, let me know!

Loved listening to you both chat about launching. It makes me think about all the products I’m creating and how in the bleeeeeep I’m going to launch each one of these things to my peeps without going crazy or losing my mind. Thank you for this interview Anne!

Anne – wow! This could not have come at a better time for me…. You are so impressive – really. Can I be like you when I grow up? ๐Ÿ˜‰ As you know I took a tiny step back to refocus – I’m focusing on my blog and my current list – I am creating a new opt-in that I think will be fabulous and will get it out there as soon as it done – I’m cleaning up my secret to success program and getting that ready to go – Your fearless launch program gave me all the tools I needed to get the nerve to put myself out there which I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone!! Thanks you so much for all your support missy – xo!

Great interview, Anne! I enjoyed hearing the thought process behind the relaunch of LKR. I think that this is what Laura probably wanted to do from nearly the beginning of her business, and now she has a large enough list to make it happen! Love it.

    Such a great interview, Anne!

Thanks being so candid in your style. Obviously you guys know each other really well, but it was a breath of fresh air to see the playfulness and pure honesty, instead of some formal (stuffy?) interviews you see out there.

I loved how Laura shared some of the “oops” stuff along the way. And about being totally you, and not just being cookie cutter, and to make your own rules….I am certain that’s why @LKR has been so successful.

Also, it was nice to hear the “inside scoop” on how things really changed over the past year to come to this change….and the rationale of scalability + simplicity being her chief reason, reminds me of where I am headed with my biz! Not only is simplicity what I teach my clients, but it is also the way I choose to run my business & my life.

    Thanks again,
    Aimee

Thanks for this! Seems like a main thread in launching is FOCUS. Focusing on less helps you launch better and faster (which is obviously something I agree with).

Minimum viable launch – to swipe part of a phrase from Sonia and Brian at Copyblogger. Yeah – and I KNOW you know how to do minimum viable and still be extremely powerful.
